iRiver Story HD to come With Integrated Google eBooks Platform

This morning Google announced on its official blog that it’s partnering with iRiver to launch the first e-reader device with integrated Google eBooks platform. The iriver Story HD e-reader will be available starting July 17 at Target retail stores across the US and on Target.com.

The device will cost $139.99 and will allow users access to more than 3 million free titles and thousands of paid titles in the Google eBooks storefront that they can buy and read over Wi-Fi. The company says you’ll also be able to store your ebooks library in the cloud.

The iriver Story HD comes with a QWERTY keyboard and it is the lightest e-reader of its class. The device has a high-resolution 6-inch display, long battery life and fast page-turn performance.

“With the Story HD you can now browse, buy and read Google eBooks with your e-reader through Wi-Fi, rather than downloading and transferring them from computer to e-reader with a cord as you can already do with more than 80 compatible devices,” Pratip Banerji, Google Books Product Manager wrote in a blog post.

The search giant launched its eBooks platform in December, enabling users to read Google eBooks on any device with a modern browser, compatible ereaders, the Chrome Web Store as well as Android and iOS mobile devices through the Google Books mobile apps. Since Dece

Yelp has reached an important milestone announcing that the social reviews and local search service now has more than 20 million reviews. To mark the big accomplishment, the company has created an infographic presenting various interesting stats.

The infographic also shows the growth path of the company since its inception in 2004. Yelp had hit its first million reviews in 2007 and climbed to 10 million in three years time. In little over a year, Yelp doubled that number. The company noted that the service now has 53 million unique monthly visitors.

“From day one we’ve remained vigilant on ensuring that the quality of content on Yelp is top notch and that very approach has led to 53 million unique users relying on us each month — whether it’s to find a hot dog vendor in London, eyelash extensions in New York or The Bronze Fonz in Milwaukee,” Yelp CEO, Jeremy Stoppelman wrote in a blog post.

Among other interesting stats is that it would take 42 years for the site to be read out loud in its entirety, and highest number of reviews written in one day is 32, 425. People using the ser
