City of Centralia Washington Carnegie Library

Carnegie library can be found in Washington Park and was originally built in 1913 followed by a remodel in 1977-78. The building houses a enormous chandelier taken from the old Centralia High School. The library is currently a member of the Timberland Regional Library system. During the month of December it is the site of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

The market is held Fridays, May thru September and has been in existence since 1996. Some of the many products include handcrafted items, bakery goods, locally grown produce, plants and flowers.

City of Centralia Washington Parks

The City of Centralia Washington has a park system contains over a dozen parks, recreational and outdoor areas of interest, and trails which total around 240 acres. Fort Borst Park with over 100 acres, contains Borst Lake, the historic Borst Mansion, Forst Borst Blockhouse, and adjoining sports facilities.

City of Centralia Washington Union Depot

Union Depot was constructed in the early twentieth century. Built with red brick, it has beautiful indoor and outdoor wookwork and old oak benches. In 1996 restoration projects were started and finished in 2002. Currently, the depot is part of the Amtrak system as a stop off point between Kelso and Lacey. The Union Depot also services a connection to the Twin Transit Transportation system and is within walking distance to the Fox Theater, McMenamins, the library, and various restaurants, shops, and antique stores.

City of Centralia Washington Country Cousin

As a local landmark, the City of Centralia Washington Country Cousing restaurant also houses a lounge and gift shop. At the front door customers are greeted by a door activated crowing rooster sound and seated by wait staff. Throughout the restaurant the country theme continues with farm implements, antique kitchen utensils, and folk art paintings displayed on walls and hanging throughout. On the tabletops you will find local history items, along with farmers almanac pages, vintage photos, and various newspaper clippings. Unique food items include yak meat and sour cream blackberry pie.

City of Centralia Washington Fox Theater

With around 1200 seats, the Fox Theater was first opened in September of 1930.. The main stage was separated into three different screen areas when the theater went through some renovations in 1982. The theater closed in 1998 and was purchased by Opera Pacifica in 2004 and underwent initial stages of restoration. In 2007 the City of Centralia Washington bought the theater and it is currently being further restored by the Historic Fox Theatre Restorations. Limited film performances began again in 2009.

City of Centralia Washington Historic McMenamin’s Theater and Hotel

After only five years being open, McMenamins went through remodelling in 1913. After that most of the structure has remained unchanged. The hotel features twenty seven European-style guest rooms. An interesting feature is that each guest room is named after a famous person. The club was originally only frequented by gentlemen but has been opened to families for many years. Its mostly used for some televised sporting events, comedy and music shows, and second run films. Instead of the usual theater seating, it now has couches and chairs. A poolroom next to the bar and dining area houses a snooker table, and six pool tables. Local, imported, and guest beers are featured during the month of either April or May.

Murals are found throughout historic downtown of the City of Centralia Washington. Featured murals depict various parts of history including the 1919 Armistice Day Centralia Massacre, Buffalo Bills Wild West Show, and the founder of the City of Centralia WA, George Washington.
