Credit card companies ‘should show leniency over late payment fines during postal strike’

Postal expert Robert Hammond also suggested those expecting bills should call the company in advance and arrange an alternative payment method that does not require the postal system, such as by phone, online or at a bank or post office, according to the Times.

His comments follow news postal workers have voted in favour of a strike.

According to the Communication Workers Union, three in four members back the strike, which is designed to protest against job and pay losses, as well as changes to working practices.

A total of seven days’ notice will have to be given before the strike can commence.

The Sun has recommended that people send their Christmas cards three weeks early this year because of the strike threat.
